What’s Happening: Welcome Back to the 2019-2020 school year!

Message from the principal:

I am looking forward to another great year here at Connections. While I am actively denying the end of summer, It has been fun seeing families come through the office to enroll, pick up materials, check on orders, or just say hello. All advisors are back on the job as of August 13th. Things are ramping up quickly. I am excited to have another opportunity to support you as you educate your children.

I am happy to announce that Connections completed the AdvancED Accreditation review process last spring and our accreditation has been extended through June, 2024. The accreditation report highlighted several of Connections’ strengths, and also pointed out some areas in which we could improve. The Connections team will be studying the accreditation report and planning actions for this upcoming year.

New Faces:

We do have some new faces at the Soldotna Office this year, and one familiar face in a new position. Last spring three long-time members of the Connections’ team retired. All three positions have been filled. Our new Soldotna area elementary advisor is Kellie Davidson. Kellie referred to Connections as her dream job. She has experience as a great elementary teacher and her daughter was a recent Connections’ graduate. Our new special education teacher (program wide) is Cindy Worley. Cindy’s most recent position was with Project SEARCH where she gained valuable experience placing students in work experiences around the community. Finally, Jen Satathite is returning to Connections in a new role. She is in a newly titled position called “Student Allocation Specialist” and is in charge of placing orders, processing reimbursements, and other related tasks. With our new team members in place we look strong for this upcoming school season.

An important deadline:  August 30 is the last day to complete re-enrollment to qualify for allotment rollover. If you have not yet re-enrolled, call your local office and schedule an appointment with your advisor. Don’t delay. This is a busy time of year and the schedule gets very limited in the next few weeks.

On behalf of the Connections staff, we thank you for choosing Connections and look forward to working with you. Please do not hesitate to share ideas for how we might better meet your homeschooling needs.
