The minimum number of participants is 12. Please email Jake Parrett at jparrett@kpbsd.k12.ak.us as soon as possible!!! The deposit is due on January 15th. Connections Talent & Art Show:

The Connections Talent Show has become an event we look forward to each school year. Last year we added an art exhibition to accommodate the many artistic students in our program. It was a huge success so we are continuing with the art show this year again! We enjoy seeing the work & success our students are finding outside of the academic realm, and we love giving them an opportunity to show those talents each spring. If your student has a talent or art piece they wish to share, please register with our show coordinator, Mark Wackler, at mwackler@kpbsd.k12.ak.us .The show is held at Soldotna High School in the auditorium on April 20th from 5:00-6:30pm and rehearsal is the 19th from 3-5pm. We look forward to seeing you at the 2017 Connections Talent Show!

European Travel – Summer 2018:

Dear Students, Parents and Guardians,

It is my greatest goal to inspire in students a new perspective of the world. For this reason every year I organize an educational travel trip for giving students the opportunity to experience places and cultures strange to them. Considering that global awareness is more essential than ever for our children, this type of travel prepares them for the future.

More and more colleges and universities are looking for international experience on students’ applications to set them apart. Travel isn’t just educational, it’s an investment that gives your child an advantage in a competitive world.

With all this in mind I’m very excited to plan for a new educational tour for the summer 2018, in which I will take a group of maximum 16 travelers from the Kenai Peninsula. (Travelers can be students or their family members.)

  • The name of the tour is: Spain, France and Italy
  • The departure date will be approximately May 29th, 2018
  • This tour is 14 days visiting Madrid (2 days), Barcelona (2 days), Carcassonne and Provence (1 day), Avignon in the French Riviera (1 day), Pisa, Florence (2 days), Assisi, Rome (3 days), Pompei, the Amalfi Coast and Capri Island (1 day).
  • The specifics of the tour can be seen at the following website:

If you have 5 minutes, please watch this video to see what this trip will be like.

The price shown on the website includes:

· Flights and train travel
· Hotel
· All breakfasts and dinners
· Entries to museums and sites listed in the detailed travel plan
· Full time tour director
· Local guides for visits to some sites
· Flamenco Evening in Madrid (this is an shown in the plan as optional visit but its cost is already included in the total price)
· 2 days extension to the Amalfi coast and ferry ride to Capri Island (this is an shown in the plan as optional visit but its cost is already included in the total price)
· Individual traveler insurance

The tour is NOT sponsored by the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District and for this reason is organized outside of school time.

The tour is operated by EF Educational Tours and we will have a full time English speaking tour director who will make sure we have a wonderful experience. For this reason it would be an advantage for students studying Italian, French, and Spanish, having the opportunity to use and listen to the real language in daily life.

***February SPECIAL PRICE: Enroll by February 28th and get a $200 discount on the price (the price shown on the website reflects this discount).

If you are interested in this tour do not miss this opportunity, visit the website and enroll soon.

EF offers various payment options for these tours, see what fits you best: http://www.eftours.com/tour-payment
